Thank you to everyone who braved the misty conditions at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on May 26th to help us honor and mourn the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military at the 2025 Memorial Day Ceremony. LTC Adrien G. Humphreys, Commander of the Radford Army Ammunition Plant, delivered an inspiring tribute, and numerous volunteers insured the dignity of the event.
Special thanks to the following:
- Travis Graham and the staff of the Veterans Cemetery for their professionalism in making sure this event went off without a hitch.
- David Gravely and his students from Pulaski County High School for providing photographic and video support. Please take a look in the Memorial Day 2025 section in the Gallery.
- The Roanoke Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol for providing the Color Guard and wreath support.
Judy Foster, Chairman of the SWVAVCV, attended the Change of Command Ceremony at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant (RAAP) as Lt. Col. Marie Hough accepted the responsibilities on June 5th. She replaces outgoing commander, Lt. Col. Adrien Humphreys. The Volunteers thank Lt. Col. Humphreys for her support and look forward to working with Lt. Col. Hough.
On May 29, 2023, the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery honored those who sacrificed their life for our freedom. Memorial Day honors the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. This was the first time the SWVAVCV served as hosts for the ceremony at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery.
