To Serve, To Educate, To Honor

Our History

Established in August of 2013, the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery Volunteers (SWVAVCV) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization.  Our membership includes private citizens, members of military units such as the UAW Local 2069 Veterans Committee and members of civic and industrial groups.

Organizations organized and operated exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, testing for public safety, literary, educational, or other specified purposes and that meet certain other requirements are tax exempt under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3).

Our Mission

The SWVAVC Volunteers' is a public charity for the purpose of supporting the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery to include, but not exclusively:

  1. The purchase and placement of wreaths on Veterans gravesites at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, in Dublin, Virginia on National Wreath Laying Day each year;
  2. Serve as Ambassadors attending and assisting families at burials;
  3. Obtaining tangible items such as flags and poles, benches, memorials, flora and fauna to enhance and/or support the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery;
  4. To educate the public about the cemetery and the sacrifices made by the veterans who served our nation; and

Get Involved

We can't do this work alone. We rely on the support of our community to honor the service of the veterans buried at the SWVAVC. There are many ways to get involved, from serving on the board volunteering at events, or making a donation. Join us in our mission to honor those who have served us.
